Are you SOLAS compliant?

Are you SOLAS compliant and your business protected?

Are you aware of the regulation changes specific to Verified Gross Mass (VGM) requirements?

As from July 1st, 2016, the new SOLAS regulations will become legally binding and will effect ALL ocean freight. The shipper (or a third party under the shipper’s responsibility) will be required to ensure that ALL packed containers indicate a VGM prior to stowage aboard an ocean vessel. After this date, it will be a violation of SOLAS to load a packed container onto a vessel if the vessel operator and marine terminal operator DO NOT have a verified container weight.

The SOLAS ammendments provide TWO specific methods global shippers MUST use to determine the container weight;

1. The total container can be weighed after it has been packed, or

2. All of the individual contents of the container can be weighed and the weights added to the container’s tare weight.

Estimating the weight WILL NOT be permitted; the identified and named person representing the shipper will be liable as having verified the accuracy of the weight calculation!

Through 85 years of industry weighing experience and innovation, Trakblaze Global has the specific equipment including, the World’s toughest weigh in motion transport / truck axle scale (Force 1) to ensure that your business is SOLAS compliant whilst reducing costly downtime through static weighing or over-sized weighbridges that consume valuable container or yard space.
